XIGMATEK - Achilles HDT-S1284

This one is interesting, and it could give the TRUE a run for it's money.

I want to see if they're going to make a 6x 8mm heatpipe version. There would be a new king of coolers.

interesting...should beat the TRUE as the S1283 already gives the TRUE a run for its money.

As for having 6x8mm heatpipes, I don't think they could because the heatpipes wouldn't even be touching the CPU...

How come? Is it because the 8mm size, is too large to fit in six?

Well look at the S1284, already the surface area is too large for the CPU IHS. There won't be complete contact between the outer heatpipes and IHS. The heatpipes will still move heat away from the bottom, but the (direct heatpipe) contact is no longer implemented.

Benchmark Reviews has just published a review on the Xigmatek Achilles S1284 HDT CPU Cooler, and it looks like everything you've been saying is true. The contact base doesn't cover the ICS, but it still performs well.

wat the heck the 3 heatpipe cooler performs better. also why would the nickle plate the heapipes??? also what is this about the ocz cooler is it anygood?

Perhaps they are preemptively attacking the nehalem ICS. Its going to be a rectangle compared to the current square.
