Default New to PC and Clueless

Hello. I'm Nick, new to PC gaming. Or rather, trying to get there, but I have no clue where to start. I received a couple of recommendations to come here for help.

Essentially, I want to go to PC, but I'm completely clueless as to where to begin. I don't know what I'm looking for, what's good/bad, etc. Not even sure what parts I'd need for a PC--I'm that far behind. Some help would be greatly appreciated.

The eventual goal is to make a gaming PC, but I'd like help figuring out how to get there, if you gents would be willing to help.

Thanks.

Well we need a budget for starters and what games or other software you intend on playing/using. Then we can go from there.

I'm hoping to get it for around $800 for everything but the monitor. As for uses, primarily gaming up to BF4.

Would you need to purchase an operating system?

Nope, not unless you have questions.
