Default New PC build for birthday

Hey guys, I'm getting rid of my current system as my graphics card has just conked out, not to mention various other things.

For my birthday im expecting to gain around £800-£1300

I'm going to be building a new rig and Wanted your suggestions on components

i was considering going down the good ol' AMD route with the 6 core hex processor , maybe 4gb DDR3 RAM

Coolermaster haf 932 case

Or a really nice MIDI case *Suggestions would be nice*

Graphics card wise i could afford a 5870 but i was thinking of saving up another £200 and getting a 5970. What do you think?

Thanks guys.

Sorry, forgot to mention this system would be for Video editing/Gaming. And I wouldn't be overclocking.

That can happen unfortunately.

If you wanted something like the 932 but a bit smaller, take a look at the 922 but for that price I would look at something like this:
Scan.co.uk: Lian Li PC-A05NB Aluminium Chassis, Black, w/o PSU
Scan.co.uk: BX80605I5750 - Intel Core i5 750, Lynnfield 45nm, Quad Core, 2.66GHz, 8MB Cache, 95W, Retail
Scan.co.uk: Gigabyte GA-H55M-S2H, 1156, PCI-E 2 (x16), DDR3 1600/1800/2133, SATA 3Gb/s, Micro ATX, VGA
Scan.co.uk: 620W Seasonic S12II-620 Bronze 12cm Silent S2FC Fan, 80+ (85%) Eff. A0TX12V V2.3 PSU
Scan.co.uk: CMV4GX3M2A1333C9 - 4GB (2x2GB) Corsair DDR3 PC3-10666 (1333) Non-ECC Unbuffered, CAS 9-9-9-24, 1.50V
Scan.co.uk: HD-587X-ZNFV - 1GB XFX HD 5870, PCI-E 2.1, 4800MHz GDDR5, GPU 850MHz, 1600Cores, DP/ DVI/ HDMI, Aliens vs Predator

The majority of people here are American, and when we see a budget in pounds or euros, we generally don't put up builds cause then we have to look around for parts somewhere else besides newegg. :P
