Well,
I'm trying to make a basic, inexpensive CADding PC. Here's what I've thought of so far:

AMD FX-6100 Processor
Komputerbay 16GB (2x 8GB) PC3-10600 10666 1333MHz DDR3 1333 DRAM
Gigabyte AMD 760G + SB710 Chipset DDR3 1333 AM3+ Micro ATX Motherboard
Force3D ATI Radeon HD5450 Video Graphics Card
Cooler Master eXtreme Power Plus 500w
ASUS(PCE-N15) Wifi Card
Western Digital 1 TB WD Blue
NZXT Guardian Black SECC Steel Chassis ATX Mid Tower Case 921RB-BL
Logitech Desktop MK120 Mouse and keyboard
Viewsonic's VA2448M-LED 24-Inch Monitor
Ubuntu

Any thoughts?

You can build a 2500k based rig with a good 650w Corsair PSU and 560ti for 774 on Newegg. If we drop down the 560ti to a card not needed for gaming we can substitute my 500GB drive for a 1TB or use the 500 and add an SSD and your 16GB of RAM. Probably a 3570k too. Give me a minute to unload my car and I'll link you said parts if you're interested. Would probably under or around 750.

Ok, do you absolutely need the 1TB for space? I think a very good addition to a working computer would be an SSD for very fast loading times. Isn't necessary but I personally believe every computer should have one.

Is that NZXT your choice, or were you just going with cheap?

I dont need the 1TB, I just like excess, but 500GB is fine

A SSD is good as well, but I'm going cheap

And the NZXT is cheap and looks nice. I like a fancy, shiny case :p

Well, any cheaper CPU alternatives?
I can get 16GB ram for like $40
I dont need that big of a HDD, and you can cheap out on the case.
The graphics card should be a gig tho
