HI guys I'm planning to build a new pc. I dont really have any experince at all but from what I've heard and read these are the components I'm planning to buy.

-Antec Sonata II W/ 450W smartpower PSU-$99.99
-ASUS A8N-SLI Premium-$163
-EVGA 6800GS-$209
-AMD Athlon 64 X2 3800+ -$322
-(2x 512MB)Crucial Ballistix Performance RAM - $155
-Seagate Barracuda 7800.8 250GB SATA - $102
-NEC DVD-RW - $41
-Sony floppy drive - $10
-Artic Silver 5 thermal compund -$6
-Zalman CNPS7000B cooling fan - $30

I want this to be a very general purpose pc. I dont need cutting edge Graphics but I want to be able to play almost everything atleast on medium settings.

What do u guys think?
Thanks

I'm willing to spend around 1,300. This does not include a moitor and speakers. I am planning to upgrade to 2 gigs of RAM sometime next year when I get the cash. I just wanted to make sure the PSU will support what have right now.

i wouldnt go with the asus board, i would go with the DFI nF4 ultra-D as you are not going to SLI the 6800GS

everything else looks good, though i would get a separate psu from the case, thoughh antec makes very nice quality psu i dont trust the oens that come with their case
