why on earth would you put a quad core in a tiny LAN box? It produces more heat.. which is the worst enemy in those boxes.

Stick with a dual core in qa micro-atx build like that.

Argh... Do you think Dual core is the way to go? My update cycles are fairly long (~2 years) but I'm fairly confident that it will last me at least that long. Is it the answer? Will it keep me happy for two years?

Xoxide / PrimoChill X-Qpack H2O - Custom Water Cooled Case

there you go.

I think a quad core would be fine in a mATX box - especially with a good cpu cooler. I've built multiple computers using the similar ultra mATX case and they run a bit hotter than regular cases - but that shouldnt be a problem if you dont plan on extreme overclocking anyway.

A Q6600 at 3.0-3.2GHZ in your specified case is definitely possible.

I think I'm just gonna stay safe and get an E6800 and overclock to decent rates instead of overheating with a Q6600, unless someone can confirm that Q6600 can indeed stay cool inside this case. Might as well wait it out until Intel releases the more heat-efficient Core 2 Quads and upgrade then.
