Welcome Bajiggy!

$2000 is quite alot for a PC and you can build a great one for under it.

i7 920 - $289.99 - Intel Core i7 920 Nehalem 2.66GHz 4 x 256KB L2 Cache 8MB L3 Cache LGA 1366 130W Quad-Core Processor - Processors - Desktops

Biostar TpowerX58 - $269.99 - BIOSTAR TpowerX58 LGA 1366 Intel X58 ATX Intel Motherboard - Intel Motherboards

G.Skill PI Black 3x2GB - $152.99 - G.SKILL 6GB (3 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Triple Channel Kit Desktop Memory - Desktop Memory

EVGA GTX295 - $504.99 - EVGA 017-P3-1291-AR GeForce GTX 295 1792MB 896 (448 x 2)-bit GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Supported Video Card - Desktop Graphics / Video Cards

PC Power and Cooling 750w - $99.99 (79.99 after rebate) - PC Power & Cooling S75CF 750W EPS12V SLI NVIDIA SLI Certified (Dual 8800 GTX and below) CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS Certified Active PFC Power Supply - Power Supplies

Seagate 1TB HDD - $99.99 - Seagate Barracuda 7200.11 ST31000333AS 1TB 7200 RPM 32MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive - Internal Hard Drives

Vista 64bit Home Premium - $99.99 - Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium SP1 64-bit for System Builders - Operating Systems

That comes to $1417.94. Adding a case, dvd drive, fans etc will add a couple of hundred. With the rest you can buy a nice screen. If you already have a nice one, then you can upgrade to 2 GTS285s in SLI if you really want, but it would already be a beast anyway.

I second everything on Meat's build

I'd recommend an Antec 1200 or 900, or a CoolerMaster Cosmos 690 or CoolerMaster HAF932 as good choices for a case, or as starting points for what you might be looking for.

I would go for either a WD or samsung HDD and samsung for the optical drive as well.
