Default New Hard Drives & eSATA Backup

My hard drive, a Hitachi Deskstar 250GB IDE, just died and I was looking at the following as a replacement:

Western Digital SATA 160GB: (Two of them)

...and since I lost all of my data on that hard drive, (my own fault since I moved the hard drive from system to system often exposing it to electromagnetic damage and shock), an external backup solution:

Hard Drive:

External Exclosure:

Any other ideas?

Has anyone dealt with this before. I really need advice on external eSATA drives, since I have never used them before...
