Default New Graphics Card

Hello all. I have a rig that is about a year old right now. I have made some improvements to it so far, but I'm thinking I will need to be making some more. Here's what I got so far:

AMD Athlon 64 3000+ Socket 754
DFI Lanparty UT nF3 250gb AGP 8x/4x
1gb Corsair XMS
XFX Nvidia 6600GT

I have just begun to play COD2 and NFSMW and my system is starting to show its age. It is lagging like crazy during HL2, and its not even on the best options. It was built on a budget as I don't currently have a job, but that won't be an issue in the future. I don't want to build a whole new rig, so any help would be appreciated.

I say suck it up for a while, cause it is pointless to upgrade your video card, as your cpu and mobo is outdated, s754 is as old as AGP

i would say save up for a couple of more months, then go all out once the new M2 sockets come out

6800GS is PCI-e. This means he needs a new motherboard followed by a new CPU.
