Is the Q6600 slow for you? Q6600 is enough for most of the people since it is Quad Core for multitasking.

Then you don't need an upgrade. Just save as much money right now for your new build in the future with Nehalem.

On November, the 45nm Nehalem is coming out the cheapest would be $300s. Next year Q4 2009, the 32nm Nehalem comes out. Also, the GTX 270 and GTX 290 are coming out soon.

Yeh the Q6600 is still a good proc. You would only get around 10% increase in going up to a Penryn proc of the same speed.

We still don't know if the new DDR3 ram is going to be expensive. People say they are cheap and others say they will be expensive but you will see an increase in bandwidth then the current Dual Channel DDR3. The motherboard is going to start from $300 at least and above thats a good price for SLI and CrossFireX. now we don't need to buy 2 seperate motherboards.

Expect the motherboard to cost from $250-$350, maybe even $450 for the ROG ASUS boards. CPU should cost around $300 on launch, and 6GB of DDR3-1333 should be around $300. It'll be a $1,000 upgrade for the CPU/MOBO/RAM.

Mordred, go with the I45 and the G.Skill PI's both very good upgrades. They will serve you well.
