Default new game rig

Another new rig I'm building again. Need some input on it, overall i think its solid though, but a second opinion never hurts before I buy the final product.

O.K. this game will be used for a gaming rig mostly. around $600-650 is optimal for this build $700 at the very max(including shipping) This is going to be a full build as well, so mouse, keyboard, monitor, etc... are all going to need to be included in this build. - LG Black 22X DVD+R SATA 22X DVD Burner - Bulk - CD / DVD Burners - RAIDMAX Hurricane ATX-248WB Black SECC ATX Mid Tower Computer Case - Seagate Barracuda 7200.12 ST31000528AS 1TB 7200 RPM 32MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive -Bare Drive - Hanns·G HW-191APB Black 19" 5ms Widescreen LCD Monitor 300 cd/m2 700:1 Built-in Speakers - MSI 770-C45 AM3 AMD 770 ATX AMD Motherboard - GIGABYTE GV-R455D3-512I Radeon HD 4550 512MB 64-bit DDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFireX Support Video Card - hec XPOWER780 780W ATX12V v2.3 / EPS12V v2.91 SLI NVIDIA HYBRID-SLI Certified CrossFire Certified Active PFC Power Supply - hec HEC-UES2 Laptop Retractable Wire Management Silver/Black 3 Buttons 1 x Wheel USB Wired Optical 800 dpi Mouse - G.SKILL 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333 (PC3 10600) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model F3-10600CL9D-4GBNT - AMD Athlon II X4 635 Propus 2.9GHz 4 x 512KB L2 Cache Socket AM3 95W Quad-Core Desktop Processor ADX635WFGIBOX
$667.26 is the total price of this after shipping.

Edit - No OS needed, this will be running vista 64bit (already have)

That rig will struggle to play any games, mostly because of the Graphics card. the HD4550 is a very, very, very low end card. You need to save some more money.

this build isnt for me. building it for a friend on that budget. any recommendations for parts to swap out for that price? i could go with a higher up graphics card, and maybe save a little money elsewhere? that or i could always drop the mouse/keyboard if need be and use that extra money else ware im sure i have a mouse/keyboard he can have for free laying around the house.

The biggest mistake you can make is cutting back on your gpu so,

Drop the keyboard, mouse, switch the 1tb HDD for a 500gb.

Also you dont need a 780w Psu get and get a good brand, I advice - CORSAIR CMPSU-400CX 400W ATX12V V2.2 80 PLUS Certified Compatible with Core i7 Power Supply

Also I know having a quad core cpu is nice but cut back to a duo core and improve your gpu

get a - XFX HD-485X-ZNFC Radeon HD 4850 1GB 256-bit DDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFireX Support Video Card

If it is too expensive get a Geforce 9800GT or 8800GT

If at all possible I'd recommend something from the 5xxx series, a 5770 or better is recommended. I don't recommend buying last-gen hardware because it means your build will have a short lifespan and have poor support when manufacturers start dropping older product lines.

Here's the cheapest 5770 I've found - SAPPHIRE 100283L Radeon HD 5770 (Juniper XT) 1GB 128-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFireX Support Video Card
