Default *New* EVGA 8800GT "Akimbo" Cooler

I was just checking out EVGA for a scoop on anything new and happened to come across a new card.

The 8800GT Akimbo and 8800GT SuperClocked Akimbo

From my understanding, it is the same card except it has a modified heatsink/fan. The "Akimbo" can also be purchased seperately for $40.00USD and can be attached to your original 8800GT with new artwork to boot. The product is advertised to drop your GPU temperature 25 celcius or more.

I ordered one and can't wait. I have a SuperClocked EVGA and it runs at about 50 degrees, too hot for me.

lol, you would have been better off with a hr-03 gt

Don't expect temperatures of 25C because I don't even get that with water cooling.

He is headed for a serious disappointment! I believe however, the blurb is that it will lower temps by 25 degrees which I seriously doubt.

Yes, it states that it will lower the avg. temp around 25 celcius. NOT bring the temp to 25 celcius.

This is by all means possible, there are a few aftermarket coolers specifically designed for the 8800GT and from what I've seen, they all bring the temperature down around 20 celcius under load. 8800GT stock runs pretty hot under load, so I see this as very possible.
