xeon's are better for number crunching due to the higher cache so if you can afford it a xeon would probably be better for your specific tasks.

Xeon's aren't that pricey

Newegg.com - Intel Xeon X3210 Kentsfield 2.13GHz 2 x 4MB L2 Cache LGA 775 Quad-Core Processor - Retail

its around the same price of a q6600 and performs around the same, 8x Multiplier and easily goes to 3.0ghz too and comes in both G0 and B3

Thank you for all your responses. Now, since I am 100% on everything except the PSU, which I am thinking of a 500watt, unless that is too much.

Newegg.com - Antec earthwatts EA500 ATX12V v2.0 500W Power Supply 100 - 240 V UL, CUL, FCC, TUV, CE, CB, C-tick, CCC - Retail

is that okay? It has to be quiet, but i think most PSU (please correct me) are quiet in general.

Newegg.com - CORSAIR CMPSU-450VX ATX12V V2.2 450W Power Supply 90 - 264 V UL, CUL, CE, CB, FCC Class B, TUV, CCC, C-tick - Retail

Wattage doesn't matter, amps on the 12v Rails do
