I'm looking for a new computer, It is going to be for school but I am also going to be gaming on it. My budget is between 500-$650. Can anyone help me out please?

I will also need a..

- DVD-RW internal drive

I will not need an OS.

EDIT: I will be playing some of the following....
Call of Duty: World at War..
COD4
and others of that nature.

My current resolution is 1024x728 pixels.

What sort of games? Do you already have a monitor? What resolution do you want to run said games at?

Here's what I can do with what you've given us to go on, without a monitor:
Power Supply - Newegg.com - CORSAIR CMPSU-650TX 650W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS Certified Active PFC Compatible with Core i7 Power Supply - Power Supplies $99.99 - On second thoughts this is probably a bit much, you might want to look at the 520HX instead.

DVD-RW drive - Newegg.com - Sony Optiarc Black 24X DVD+R 8X DVD+RW 12X DVD+R DL 24X DVD-R 6X DVD-RW 12X DVD-RAM 16X DVD-ROM 48X CD-R 32X CD-RW 48X CD-ROM 2MB Cache SATA DVD/CD Rewritable Drive - CD / DVD Burners $26.99

Case - Newegg.com - COOLER MASTER Elite 330 RC-330-KKN1-GP Black SECC ATX Mid Tower Computer Case - Computer Cases $39.99 - you might wabt to look at a better case than this though.

HDD - Newegg.com - Open Box: Seagate ST3640323AS 640GB 7200 RPM 32MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive $42.88

RAM - Newegg.com - CORSAIR 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory - Desktop Memory $49.99

CPU - Newegg.com - Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 Wolfdale 3.0GHz 6MB L2 Cache LGA 775 65W Dual-Core Processor - Processors - Desktops $164.99 - awesome processor, overclocks like a champion, perfect for gaming. I was considering a Phenom II X3 build but this was only $15 more.

Mobo - Newegg.com - GIGABYTE GA-EP43-UD3L LGA 775 Intel P43 ATX Intel Motherboard - Intel Motherboards $84.99

GPU - Newegg.com - EVGA 01G-P3-1155-TR GeForce GTS 250 1GB 256-bit GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Supported Video Card - Desktop Graphics / Video Cards $149.99 - A GTS250 will probably do you fine unless you're gaming at high-res. And depending on what games you want to play, you might want to get a cheaper one like a 9800GT, or a more expensive one like GTX260/280.

Total - $659.81, with $45 mail-in rebates.

Ok, Thank very much so far. I'm thinking of maybe getting a new OS. What do you recommend? Also, I have never put together a computer before, Is it hard? I've heard you just really have to follow directions.

fixed

For the OS, I'd recommend Vista Home Premium X64 edition

As for building its extremely easy! Its like a jigsaw puzzle, don't push a piece that doesn't go somewhere or try to cut stuff off to make it fit, and it works fine

As mentioned, a bit more psu than you need, can save a few bucks if you downgrade and you'll still have room to grow:

Newegg.com - CORSAIR CMPSU-550VX 550W ATX12V V2.2 SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS Certified Active PFC Compatible with Core i7 Power Supply - Power Supplies

or

Newegg.com - PC Power & Cooling S61EPS 610W Continuous @ 40°C EPS12V SLI Certified CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS Certified Active PFC Power Supply compatible with core i7 - Power Supplies

edit\ agree with vernon, go with vista home prem 64, and building it yourself is easy, see here:

A couple posts on putting the system together...different motherboard but same concepts, just take your time and follow what the motherboard manual says.
