greetings all i now have 1000 dollars to buy a new comp. need help though. whats the best gaming comp i can make with that amount???????????

thank you

Here is what I came up with

AMD Atholon 64 3700+
6800GT by gigabyte PCI-E
1 gig of corsair ram
120 gig Seagate S-ATA HD
LG disk drive
GIGABYTE GA-K8N51GMF-9 SK 939 mobo

You can down size on processor and go for a better vid card or the oposite down size on you vid card and go for a AMD Atholon 64 4000+.

ps. I minused a 150$ from a 1000 just incase your planning on buying a case.

wow why ppl put a 3700 with a 6800gt? it doenst make sense. here is my pick.

get 3200(none greater it doesnt help in gaming)

a 7800 GT.

2 gig.

a msi, Gybitye, dfi, asus motherboard.

WD 250 GB
a dvd rw drive

800-1000 if you pick your parts at newegg.com

i would say a 3700+ would do you good later, and last you longer, its got double the l2, and its not that much more than a 3200+, might as well get something good right?? and what if he doesnt plan on overclocking? then a 3700 could suit him just fine.. even if he does want to overclock the 3700 could do him good... people seem to be hitting fx57 speeds pretty easy

Yea, forget the 6800GT totally, either go 6800GS or 7800GT. For like $30 more than the 6800GT, you get the 7800GT which is much better.

Either go 3200+ (OCable to 3500+) or 3700+ (OCable to 4000+).

I don't think you need 2 gigs of memory though, 1 gig of quality OCZ gold memory or such will do fine.
