Well this is the build I am putting together:

Case - Antec P182 Super Midi Tower Case - No PSU (Gun Metal Black)
Motherboard - Gigabyte GA-P31-DS3L Intel P31 (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard
Processor - Intel Core 2 Quad Pro Q6600 "Energy Efficient SLACR 95W Edition" 2.40GHz (1066FSB) - Retail
Thermal Compound - Akasa AK-455 Thermal Compound
Heatsink + Fan - Akasa AK-925 Revo CPU Cooler (Socket 754/939/940/AM2/LGA775)
Memory - 2 x Corsair 2GB DDR2 XMS2-6400C4 TwinX (2x1GB) = 4gb
Graphics Card - I already have bought an Nvidia GeForce 8800GTX
Hard Drive - Western Digital Caviar SE16 250GB SATA-II 16MB Cache - OEM (WD2500AAKS)
Optical Drive - LiteON DH-16D2S-02C 16x Serial ATA DVD-ROM (Black) - OEM
Power Supply - OCZ GameXStream 700w Silent SLI Ready ATX2 Power Supply
Operating System - Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium 64-Bit Edition DVD - OEM - 1Pk (66I-00788)

Total - £667.85

What do you think of it? - Any suggestions?

Can I also ask you lot if all the case fans from the P182 and the heatsink all plug into the motherboard nicely?

Cheers,

Mikey.

1.8800gtx is a controversial pick now
2.i like the choice of case, mobo, cpu
3.ram is cheap so the 4 gigs is justifiable
4.im not a fan of vista

things that can be improved:
1.if it isn't much of a hassle return the 8800gtx for a 8800gt/gts (g92 core)
2.im not a fan of vista but thats for you to decide

what others are going to say:
1.dont get the ocz because it has voltage stability issues or v-drop (personally, it doesn't matter as parts are built with tolerances so a few tenths of voltage differentiation is fine)

Thanks for reply.

I might change the PSU anyway to a Thermaltake Toughpower 750W, as it has modular cables.

I got my 8800GTX months ago. :D

I'm not a fan of Vista, but three of my clan members have just built similar systems with the same OS and they say they will never go back. :D

Could you explain no. 3 a bit more please???

Cheers again,

Mikey.

well since ram is cheaper than dirt nowadays (apologies to fade2black2004) might as well get 4 gigs if you are going to vista, because before 4 gigs was looked upon as useless and a waste of money

and since you are from the uk, what is your favorite football club?

yeah get 4 gigs, vista flies with it. Btw i havent had any issues what-so-ever with vista, and i will never go back.

DecibaL im sorry to say this, but you are a glory supporter. :p I never knew you were from the UK.

I would go with XP Pro 32bit just because your clan went with vista dosen't mean you have to.

This deal is MEGA for a mobo:

OcUK Value IP35 Pro Intel P35 (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard

This normaly retails at about £120.

Not sure about the HSF i would go with this one: Thermalright IFX-14 CPU Cooler (Socket AM2/LGA775) (cheaper than the TRUE)

I would heartily reccomend this for a Hard Drive: Seagate Barracuda 7200.11 500GB SATA-II 32MB Cache - OEM (ST3500320AS)

That PSU is pretty poor. This is better.

PC Power & Cooling Silencer 610 EPS12V 610W Power Supply

This memry is also better than the XMS2:

Crucial Ballistix 2GB (2x1GB) DDR2 PC2-6400C4 800MHz Dual Channel Kit (BL2KIT12864AA804)
