Default New build questions.

I'm putting together a new computer on somewhat of a budget but plan to play around with a lot of overclocking stuff so I get my moneys worth, this is what I've got so far.

Intel Pentium 2.0GHz dual core (with monster fan for over clocking, I read you can get it to 3.2 with the rite cooling.)
Asus Intel G31 micro atx board
2x1GB pqi TUBRO 3ms latency memory
8600GT XXX 256MB stock clocked at 620MHz
RAIDMAX 530W power supply.
and a cool master micro ATX case.

I'm shooting for cheep power with this build, and its going to be one of my first. So please give me some advice on this I'm trying to stay under 600.

I strongly suggest you not get PQI ram, I have personally ran into alot of problems with that brand. GSkill and A-DATA make excellent ram for the price.

That CPU is good, but some people have a hard time getting it past 3ghz. My friend bought one and was dissapointed when he could not get past 2.9ghz. I also would not recommend buying a gpu thats stock overclocked unless it has a better deal or something, its a waste of money.

That PSU should be able to power your computer but the quality of that brand is horrible and for the price I would take a look at other brands (see the thread in the computer hardware forum on powersupplies)

I would go with these parts which come to $567 before mail in rebates. I have an E2180 and have had it up to 3.1ghz with an Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro and plan on overclocking it even higher. - LG Black 20X DVD+R 8X DVD+RW 12X DVD+R DL 20X DVD-R 6X DVD-RW 12X DVD-RAM 16X DVD-ROM 48X CD-R 32X CD-RW 48X CD-ROM 2MB Cache SATA 20X DVD Burner - CD / DVD Burners - COOLER MASTER Elite 330 RC-330-KKN1-GP Black SECC ATX Mid Tower Computer Case - Computer Cases - Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 ST3250310AS 250GB 7200 RPM 8MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive - Internal Hard Drives - XFX PVT88SFDFU GeForce 8800 GS 384MB 192-bit GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Supported Video Card - Desktop Graphics / Video Cards - CORSAIR CMPSU-450VX 450W ATX12V V2.2 Power Supply 90 - 264 V UL, CUL, CE, CB, FCC Class B, TUV, CCC, C-tick - Power Supplies - Crucial Ballistix Tracer 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory - Desktop Memory - GIGABYTE GA-EP35-DS3L LGA 775 Intel P35 ATX Intel Motherboard - Intel Motherboards - Intel Pentium E2180 Allendale 2.0GHz 1MB L2 Cache LGA 775 65W Dual-Core Processor - CPUs / Processors - ARCTIC COOLING Freezer 7 Pro 92mm CPU Cooler - CPU Fans & Heatsinks

I agree with Puddle Jumper's build, except I'd get this harddrive: - Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 ST3250410AS 250GB 7200 RPM 16MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive - Internal Hard Drives
More cache

And for a few bucks more you can get the 9600GT and still stay under $600 - XFX PVT96GYDF4 GeForce 9600 GT 512MB 256-bit GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Supported Video Card - Desktop Graphics / Video Cards
