Default New build for me...need some help

So I stumbled upon this website and I think it's very resourceful. So I need some help on a new build. This will be my first one. Right now i've got a tower, monitor mouse keyboard, I just need help starting the guts of the tower. I'm looking to spend maybe 600 on this part (this is flexable though). It'll be for some gaming and the rest just surfing the net and doing papers. Can you guys give me some recomendations on a mobo and cpu whats good, whats bad that kind of stuff. just throw some out there for me? I don't plan on OC at all so I can stick w/ bargan ram. I'm leaning towards AMD but if anyone has an objection give me a reason to go w/ intel. Any other advice would be great. right now the tower has a 350watt PSU I'm kind of thinking maybe bumping that up i have a feeling it's a little low. I was doning some research and the agp is on it's way out? What kind of hard drive is decent. I don't need a huge one but do I need the 10500 rmps? Any info would be great. Thanks

If you can scrape up $100 more this would be good. If you cant go over $600, then swap out the 6800gs for a 6600gt. This should be a pretty decent machine.

Video card
optical drive hard drive
Power supply
total (without shipping/tax)= $687
