Default overclocking

I have an i5 2500k, is it worth it to overclock if I don't know how?

go into bios and change CPU multiplier from auto to 34.
you just overclocked your CPU by 100mhz.
is it worth it? not sure, but it doesn't cost you anything.

Disadvantages? CPU lifespan can be reduced (it might knock a couple years off the 10+ year lifespan). If you don't OC it right there can be stability issues (bluescreens, errors in processing). Hugely increased heat output so you need a decent aftermarket heatsink.

Where's your hard drive?

Don't get the Corsair CX. Get their TX line.

Don't get that 520M. For your system, that will be the bottleneck, by far.

Dunno how much the vengeance RAM will cost, but you can get 8GB for $40 with this: - G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333 (PC3 10666) Desktop Memory Model F3-10666CL9D-8GBRL

My hd is a 160g velociraptor.
What gpu do you suggest? I don't want anything to expensive because I'll only play stuff like tf2 and such

Is the VelociRaptor a drive you already own?

I merged all your threads about your new build together.
