Well i just watched the video for Crysis and it looks amazing it really made me have the urge to upgrade my current rig. Im on a really tight budget so heres what i thought:

X2 3600 brisbane: Newegg.com - AMD Athlon 64 X2 3600+ Brisbane 1.9GHz 2 x 512KB L2 Cache Socket AM2 Processor - Retail

Biostar Tforce 550:
Newegg.com - BIOSTAR TFORCE 550 Socket AM2 NVIDIA nForce 550 MCP ATX AMD Motherboard - Retail

G skill 2GB Kit:
Newegg.com - G.SKILL 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory - Retail

PNY 320mb 8800GTS:
Newegg.com - PNY VCG88GTS32XPB GeForce 8800GTS 320MB 320-bit GDDR3 PCI Express x16 HDCP Video Card - Retail

Artic Cooling Freezer Pro:
Newegg.com - ARCTIC COOLING Freezer 64 Pro 92mm CPU Cooler - Retail

Now i think this is a pretty **** good build its all in my budget and i know the brisbane can oc like mad. I do have 2 questions though.

1. Will the processor hold me back even if i overclock it?

2. A Cheaper Psu that will handle the 8800GTS?

By the way i would not like to go over $600

What is your current motherboard ?

Instead of buying a new motherboard, you can upgrade your current processor to Core 2 Duo E4300 (If your current motherboard supports it)

I actually just got the amd x2 3600+ and the biostar Tforce 550se and the arctic cooler. So far they're really good the cooler keeps the cpu at like 27 C at idle don't know at loading...

But if you really wanted to run top end games like crysis... u should definitely go with intels c2d. Just because they perform better and are easier to OC. Which is why this is my temp cpu.. until I make my new rig when intel drops the prices of their quad core.

But I will definitely post more on those hardware you want in the next couple days. After I try a few games on them. Right now I have Rainbow six vegas and stalker in the line up seeing how they run and planning to get oblivion soon. So if this thread is still up.. I 'll give u a heads up hah

that's a nice build but it's not going to run crysis well unless you put all the details to low-medium and run a low resolution.

You really want a Core 2 Duo and at least a 8800GTS 640mb (ideally a 8800GTX :( ). Sounds pricey but if you're aim it to play Crysis that build will most likely disappoint you.

Overclock your X2 3600 to around 2.8-3.0 and you won't have much of a bottleneck to worry about, it's fine. An X2 @ 3.0ghz beats a stock E6420 and competes with an E6600 there are MANY MANY people who only go stock and are running it @ 2.4ghz right now. Do not worry about the bottleneck as much as you hear becuase it's really not that much. If you had a GTX it would be a heavier bottleneck but only a GTS there is not much at all @ 3.0ghz.

Yes the 8800GTS runs I think at 110w max load which is less than the X1900/1950XTX.

For a PSU when you say "cheap" here's as cheap as I would go.

Newegg.com - Rosewill RP550-2-S ATX12V v2.01 550W Power Supply 115/230 V CSA, UL, TUV, FCC - Retail
Newegg.com - XCLIO GOODPOWER 500W ATX 500W Power Supply 115/230 V UL, CUL, TUV, CB, VDE, FIMKO, DEMKO, NEMKO, SEMKO - Retail

It CAN be run on lower watts but I don't recommend it and both of those PSU's really aren't that much anyway.

Thank you very much you seem a little more knowledge than some of the other posts.

gurusan: I heard that the 8800GTS 320mb performs just as good as a 640mb on lower resolution. I do not have a great monitor i think its a 15 inch Crt made by Dell so i figured the 320mb would be perfect for my build.

You are exactly right about the resolution. At 1024x968 the 8800GTS 320 will DESTROY games....like they won't even be a challenge for it lol.

Thats exactly what resolution on play on now looks great to me:)
