With the sli
could you imagine dual 7800 GTX. WOW!!
Sli is not worth the money at all, neither is crossfire. the price performance ratio is terrible.

granted, DFIs board might be the best OC'er out there but where in my post did i say i was planning on extreme overclocking???
You have said that you are going to buy DDR500 XMS memory. Anyone whos buys this memory and isnt going to overclock has completely wasted his money as it has absolutely no performance increase over 1GB value DDR400 memory unless you are going to overclock. From this I thought you are going to overclock but if you arent then it just turns out that you don't know what you are doing....

Personally, if you are looking at the FX-53 vs. 4000+, i'd go with the 4000+ San Diego at half the cost. The overclockablility will bring you to FX 53 performance and higher. OR if your willing to spend over $500 on a CPU, consider the X2 4400+, which with the right RAM, MOBO & PSU, you'll be able to OC to the 4800+ speeds and performance.

That Lian-Li case is really sweet, but there are many cases that are just as nice if not better for much less money. WD is a good HDD, but consider going Seagate for a SATA HDD. They are about $100.00 for 250GB. Seagate is one of the most trust HDD's on the market. 3 of my 4 HDD's are Seagates. They have the best Customer support as well as several great free downloadable HDD utilities.

With all of this money you'd save from my recommendations, you could buy the 7800GTX instead of the GT. You could even probably upgrade to the 7800GTX 512MB. woot!

I like the looks of your potential new machine. I've been looking at potential upgrade options myself. I agree, if you're going to spend the money anyway, why not go duel core? Although I must admit that, being a California girl, I like the fact that the 4000+ is called the "San Diego"

good luck!

i would say that the x2 4400 is a much better bang for your buck...its $497 and it runs at 2.2ghz...now the x2 4800 runs at 2.4ghz...i dont think its worth spending almost 3 hundred just to get 200 mhz

also...you might want to look at msi mobo's i hear they are just as good for less
