We got any good information on these yet?

So far all I see is decent price, comparing to the 4870's

The 2GB model (4870)
Newegg.com - SAPPHIRE Vapor-X Radeon HD 4870 2GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFire Supported Video Card - Desktop Graphics / Video Cards

and the 1 GB I was looking at (4870)
Newegg.com - XFX HD-487A-ZDFC Radeon HD 4870 1GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFire Supported Video Card - Desktop Graphics / Video Cards

and then the 4890s

Newegg.com - XFX HD-489A-ZDFC Radeon HD 4890 1GB 256-bit DDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready Video Card - Desktop Graphics / Video Cards

So which is more worth it now? doesn't look like the XFX card dropped much in price with the release of 4890's

Anyone got any reviews to link up on these? Kinda needa order my new video.

Not that much difference IMO. A faster stock clock, slightly higher bandwidth, better power management at idle. It this worth the extra 80 bucks? (For Canadians)

This is nice tho:
Because they're so similar, the Radeon 4870 and 4890 can be combined together for mix-and-match CrossFire, just like the 4850 and 4870.

Here are some gaming benchmarks with the 4870 1GB, 4890 1GB, 285, 280, 275 and 260.
Spring 2009 GPU Shootout: Radeon 4890 vs GeForce GTX 275

The 4890 out performed the 4870 by about 4-6 FPS in every game.

It's a tuned up chip with cleaner power for faster clocks. That is ALL. Clock for clock it runs the exact same as the 4870, but the reworked chip allows for faster clocks.

Also, stick with XFX, sapphire has crap for warranty support, and doesnt allow you to change the cooler.

The 4890's chip is slightly different than the 4870's in that it can handle more voltage and overclock like mad.

Can you say "1GHz"? I knew you could. ;)

besides OC'ing, hows the main GPU handle?

I mean which are loud, which are hot, and which cool better?

I am looking to buy and I was going for a 4870, but if we can get a decent cooling decently silent 4890 I can fork the extra over.
