okay dont reccomend any other card cuz i have reasons why i am getting one of these- its for a freind and i dont know much about these two cards. i said jus get a 6800gs like me but he said hes on a budget so-

AGP only

6600GT evga
or
6800GT evga- can any one find an AGP one??? i can only find pci-e

running on amd 3000
1 gig ram

which would be better for counterstrike and doom3?

The general consensus around here is that 6800 is a bigger number than 6600, thus it is better. No, really. The 6800 has 16 pipelines, the 6600 has 8. It will be a lot faster.

lol i know the number is bigger but still some people have enjoyed the 6600 more then a 6800, i do not know much about these two cards but since the 6800 has 16 pipelines then i guess it is better. any more comments?

6800 is not the 6800GT. 6800 only has 12 pipelines and is of comparable performance to the 6600GT.

Don't plan on finding a AGP 6800GT, aren't made anymore. The best bet is an AGP 6800GS. Just unlock it FOR him, and it'll be like a AGP 6800GT right there.

If you DO find a AGP 6800GT, plan to pay ~$350 for it. Not a good idea for a budget.

Those are not 6800GT's, they are 6800 vanillas, which are slower than the GT, but still faster than the 6600GT. For AGP, the best you are going to do is a 6800GS:

ok thanks guys, just realized i wont find an AGP 6800gt so i will go with and apollo 6800 vanilla and i will OC for him. i have a 6800gs and i love it, its pci-e, but he is only willing to spend 160 or less so ill get him the 6800. thanks again.
