Default Need speed, but don't know where.

Alright so heres the deal, My dad runs massive spreadsheets in the new excel and he is running into major speed issues. It takes around ten min. to even open the spreadsheet and all sorts of crashes keep happening. So my question is what does he need to do to speed up his computer. He has a mission critical workstation with a 3 ghz proc. and 2 gigs of ECC ram (he has peked at 2.4 ish). His mobo has space for another CPU, will that fix the problem? Andy help would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

Does the hard drive constantly read when opening the files? You may want a faster one.

You're going to need to be more specific with the details, ie: Windows version, Office/Excel version, CPU/Mobo/RAM/HDD types, that knida thing!

Hit us with that, and someone will be able to help!
Don't ask questions, just click my rep tick. Now.
