Default Need PC for Audio Recording.

Ok i havent been here in ages as i built my custom PC and was very happy.

This PC is for a friend.

His pc at the moment is really **** so i suggested a brand new build. The trouble is i haven't kept up-to-date with the latest technology to advise him on what to get!

Last time i checked Intel Core-Duo annialated AMD Dual-cores.

So basically he wants to get this:

Alesis :: iO|26

what stuff is hot at the moment?

Price range- best bang for buck/low-middle.

Thanks.

Newegg.com - GIGABYTE GA-965P-DS3 LGA 775 Intel P965 Express ATX Intel Motherboard - Retail
Newegg.com - Intel Core 2 Duo E6320 Conroe 1.86GHz 4M shared L2 Cache LGA 775 Processor - Retail
or this, for cheaper:
Newegg.com - Intel Core 2 Duo E4300 Allendale 1.8GHz 2M shared L2 Cache LGA 775 Processor - Retail
Newegg.com - G.SKILL 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory - Retail
Newegg.com - FSP Group (Fortron Source) AX400-PN, RoHS, 12cm FAN, version 2.2, 2 SATA, 20+ 4 pin, PCI Express, 400W Power Supply - Retail
Newegg.com - Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 ST3320620AS (Perpendicular Recording Technology) 320GB 7200 RPM 16MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive - OEM

You pick the case. I would probably suggest this case though:
Newegg.com - COOLER MASTER Centurion 5 CAC-T05-UW Black Aluminum Bezel, SECC ATX Mid Tower Computer Case - Retail
inexpensive, and a good case overall.

If he isn't going to be gaming, any graphic card will do. Or you can drop the DS3 motherboard and get a motherboard with onboard video like this:
Newegg.com - ASUS P5L-VM 1394 LGA 775 Intel 945G Micro ATX Intel Motherboard - Retail

I second them, even though I have never used one. I just hear that they're easier to work with, when doing recording and stuff.
