Default In Need of a new Desktop!...kinda

Another post! However completely irrelevant to my other post in a different topic. My situation is as follows, last year I purchased for my gf a fairly decent laptop at a great price. Accidents happen as we are human and BAM! Laptops dead as a doorknob and with Futureshop telling me I'm SoL. So what brings me to this post yet again is I am looking to getting her a desktop instead as she does alot of homework with very mild light gaming. I am Canadian and my purchasing sites of choice are Ncix.ca and Newegg.ca
Qualifications:
-Schooling & Homework / +work (multiple windows, essays, music)
-Light gaming as in (Puzzle games, Sim Games like Roller Coaster Tycoon 1-3?, even Harry Potter games for instance!)
-Music/Photos (No editing)

Not looking to break the bank just something ideal for her. It's either this or another laptop.

To be honest, if she's only going to use it for schoolwork and homework and just very light games, every pre-built pc for about 400 to 600 dollars would suit her fine these days...

Check out these NCIX-built pc's: Click Here
Or some pre-built pc's from Newegg: Click Here

Of course, the higher the price, the better the pc's get and also the more "futureproof" they are... But since you didn't give a budget, I think this pricepoint is very acceptable ;-)

We don't condone to pre-builts here, or at least I don't. Pretty much anything I found on these sites were more than 500 and less powerful than what I put together. Anyways OP, less than 500. You might need an OS but I left it out just in case you don't need one. I normally don't recommend AMD but in this case I feel it's perfect.

CPU:
Newegg.ca - AMD A10-5800K Trinity 3.8GHz (4.2GHz Turbo) Socket FM2 100W Quad-Core Desktop APU (CPU + GPU) with DirectX 11 Graphic AMD Radeon HD 7660D AD580KWOHJBOX

Motherboard:
Newegg.ca - ASRock FM2A85X Extreme4-M FM2 AMD A85X (Hudson D4) HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 Micro ATX AMD Motherboard

RAM:
Newegg.ca - CORSAIR Vengeance 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model CMZ8GX3M2A1600C9

PSU:
Newegg.ca - SeaSonic M12II 520 Bronze 520W ATX12V v2.3 / EPS 12V v2.91 SLI Ready 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Modular Active PFC Power Supply

HDD:
Newegg.ca - SAMSUNG Spinpoint F4 HD322GJ/U 320GB 7200 RPM 16MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive -Bare Drive

Case:
Newegg.ca - GIGABYTE GZ-P5 Plus GZ-P5HB5C Black ABS / 0.5 mm SECC ATX Mid Tower Computer Case

DVD:
Newegg.ca - ASUS 24X DVD Burner - Bulk 24X DVD+R 8X DVD+RW 12X DVD+R DL 24X DVD-R 6X DVD-RW 16X DVD-ROM 48X CD-R 32X CD-RW 48X CD-ROM Black SATA Model DRW-24B1ST/BLK/B/AS - CD / DVD Burners

$462

You can change the case up if you like but I feel this will be more than plenty. The PSU leaves you room for a GPU such as a GTX 660 if you need it and the A10 is quite speedy.

I was debating the laptop for awhile but after considering it again she stated that she would be more willing to work assignments and game at a desktop than just at a table or couch with a laptop. Thanks alot for that build!
