Need a motherboard....should I wait?

I'm in the process of building a new computer:

Power Supply: OCZ OCZ600ADJSLI ATX12V 2.01 600watt SLI SATA
Motherboard: not sure yet, some SLI X16
Processor: AMD Athlon 64 X2 4600+
Memory: 2 gigs
Graphics: one 7800GTX 512MB for now, possibly a 2nd one later on
OS Hardrive #1: WD 10,000K RPM Rapton 36.7GB SATA150
OS Hardrive #2: WD 10,000K RPM Rapton 36.7GB SATA151
Hardrive #1: WD Caviar RE2 WD4000YR 400GB SATA150 RAID-specific
Hardrive #2: WD Caviar RE2 WD4000YR 400GB SATA150 RAID-specific
Optical Drive #1: Plextor slot load PX-716AL/SW IDE
Optical Drive #2: Plextor slot load PX-716AL/SW IDE
Monitor: NEC LCD1970GX-BK Black 19" 8ms LCD Monitor

I really think its smart to go ahead and shell out the extra $50 bucks for a SLI X16 motherboard, but the only one available is the Asus A8N32-SLI Deluxe, but 1) its hard as fine 2) its expensive as **** since its hard to find 3) I'm not too happy with the onboard audio

I figure when they release the Premium version it will have better audio, but when is that gonna happen?

When will DFI release an X16 motherboard?

Isn't AMD about to release a new processor or something?

Thats a beastly machine.

You would probably go with a DFI, SLI compatible Motherboard.

The asus board is not a good idea to buy as it is crap

Either get a normal SLI board or wait, their is no real peforamnce difference with the newer SLI boards. Graphics cards are not limited by the slot bandwith. These new high lane boards are nothing but gimmicks.

I would consider either the 4400 or the 4800 as they have 1mb l2 vs the 3800,4200,4600 having 512

Yeah, the only 2 Athlon 64 x2 processors I'd be buying are the 3800+ and the 4400+. Overclock from there...

yall are right, I just reread the review on Sharkey Extreme of the 4200+ and the 4600+.

I chose the 4600+ b/c it consistently beat the 4400+ in all benchmarks.

But barely SINCE the 4400+ had the bigger cache.

So since I plan on overclocking I'd be better off getting the 4400+ or the 4800+
