Get an X-fi XtremeMusic, its here for $105:

also dont get a soundblaster live for any reason if you are a gamer. if the xtrememusic is to expensive, there is an OEM audigy2 zs on newegg for $70.

chaintech av-710 - it's cheap and is known on head-fi.org to have excellent sound quality for the price.

quality is nice, but if he is a gamer he is looking for a card that supports eax 4.0/5.0 etc which chaintech does not.

Ah, I see. Maybe get a chaintech for music and a soundblaster for games, then?

Personally I would cancel the order right away and get an X-fi XtremeMusic instead, the Audigy2 is the last generation sound card, X-fi is here and now. It's also A LOT better than the Audigy2 and is only slightly more expensive.
