Hi, currently i have:
Conroe Core 2 Duo e6600
OCZ 700 watt PSU
NZXT apollo case
Soundblaster X-fi Xtrememusic
I need you guys to hook me up with a good solid mobo, and good RAM. I don't want the ram to be anymore than $300, and it should be DDR2 800. But with the mobo, I don't know much about. I'd like to keep it around the $150 range. I wont overclock at first until I buy some better cooling, so I want rock solid stabibility, but capable of some mild overclocking.
What is CAS latency in RAM? Since latency is not usually a good thing, I imagine that "4" is better than "5". So I was looking at CAS latency "4" DDR2 800 RAM, and came up with this:
How is that? And here is a mobo i found:
If they are both nice, that's great but I have one question. If you go to the specifications on that mobo, and scroll down a little, you will see the following message. (i see this message on all the random mobos i click on)
"Notice: Only DDR2-800 memory supporting JEDEC approved 1.8V operation with timings of 5-5-5 or 6-6-6 is supported on Intel Desktop Boards based on Intel 965 Express Chipsets."
That scares me, because that Corsair XMS2 RAM i posted has a 4-4-4-12 timing. Does that mean I have to go find RAM with a timing of 5-5-5 or 6-6-6 instead? I really don't understand, please help.
EDIT: I changed the mobo to a 965P, since I heard it was better for OC.
