This is gonna be my first build so I'm a bit confused. What is South Bridge, I'm looking at 2 types of MOBOS that have Nvidia southbridge and an intel southbridge...?
CPU: i will NOT be OverClocking... e6300 or e6600
edit: OMG i didn't know price diff was that much... so e6300 i guess...

This one looks better.
Does PCI express x1 cards work if you put them into the PCI express x16 slot? or are the slots different in size??
I am NOT planning to Crossfire or SLI. So am I looking at the correct MOBOs for my needs? I want to be able to play recent games at decent FPS (FEAR,HL2,DOOM3,etc). My MAX budget is around $1500. I'm going to use this for everyday use a lot too.
RAM:.. what is good for "Timing" and "Cas Latency" http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820145590

Case: any suggestions?? Nothing flashy... needs to look good but does NOT need those flashy neon lights or clear see thru casing..
DVD/CD Drives: probably sony or something... do I need cd AND dvd?? Can't I just use a dvd drive for everything? or is that bad for the dvd drive (over working it?)
HardDrive: what is best brand for performance? western digital? the 500gb samsung for $149 is tempting....http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16822152052
