Hi there,

I was wondering if it would be better to either go for 16GB of RAM with an intel i5 3210m 2.5GHz processor, or 8GB of RAM with an intel i5 3360m 2.8GHz processor. Costing wise i can only go for either option, so any help would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks,

Matt.

300 mhz difference is negligible in my humble opinion.

but a gaming machine doesn't need 16GBs of RAM.
most will just sit idle.

so in the end I would choose i5 3360m w/ 8GBs of RAM.
RAM is easy to upgrade yourself with most laptops. CPU is not.

i completely agree with what he said, i think it something like 3.2GB ram is used by BF3. so your all set, even when the next consoles come out and they start making games with more ram you will still have enough!
(games are usually made primarily for consoles and then adapted for pc, i mean bf3 with 3gb of ram, and skyrim im sure isnt too different)

EDIT
i just read skyrim couldn't even use 4gb ram originally, they updated it so it could,
4gb of ram is enough for a good amount of games

also can you give us specs on what you are getting? are you upgrading and it comes in a bundle

EDIT EDIT LOL
even to run a minecraft server 8gb is a good amount, thats around 15 people or more assuming your internet is good, you mainly need good internet to run servers...(host game servers)
