Hey, my friend is making a crazy gamer PC. He has a $2,000 + a little bit more budget, not including case.

Can you help us out with what would be the best possible combo?

P.S. no over clocking/ coolers needed

Thanks, Noga

Well, $2000 is a lot of money for a computer, I have to admit. Here's a suggestion:

Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 - $308
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-965P-DS3 - $122.99
Memory: G.Skill 2x1GB DDR2-800 - $139.99
Video Card: eVGA 8800GTS 320MB - $279.99
Hard Drive: Seagate 400GB SATA 3.0 - $99.99
Optical Drive: LG 18X DVD+/-RW - $29.99
Monitor: Viewsonic 20" LCD - $229.99
Power Supply: Hiper Modular 580W - $89.99
Case: Antec Nine Hundred - $119.99

Total: $1420.92

It doesn't include keyboard, mouse or speakers.

why suggest a GTS to someone who wants a 'crazy gaming pc', when it comes massively under budget. Get an 8800 GTX or wait for the next gen cards which should arrive soon ish!

yeah meithan has a good setup he listed. but i guess if you wanted to go the extra mile then you could get the 8800gtx. or wait for the ati R600.

Yeah, I guess you're right Plant. It's just that the GTX is so darn expensive. I'm not even sure it's worth the $570.

But either way, $2000 is a lot of money for a computer. I don't think it's possible to build a computer with that much money and get a good price/performance ratio at the same time.

You can always go for my build......

Wish list details

it doesnt include a mouse keyboard and speakers

Edit: You may want to change that GPU to the 768MB Model but I dont really think its worth it. Its like saying......

"You may want to change that CPU to Intel E6700" which is not that great compared to the E6600 in price and performance ratio.

Your build however uses 4GB of ram which is 100% unneeded in gaming. 2Gb if fine.

I would get as the main parts...

P5B-E
E6600
8800GTX
2GB G.Skill
Antec Nine Hundred
Hiper Type-R 580w

Going for a 6700 is pointless really, as is a 6600. A 6400 would be great just do a little OCing. A GTS compared to a GTX is really a different story though. A GTS doesn't compare to a GTX the way a 6xxx does to a 6700. If you can get one, get one.

single GTX 10751 on 3dmark 06
single GTX 8769 on 3dmark 06

huge difference.

The 6700 may be pointless but the E6600 is not. The E6600 isn't as GOOD price/performance as the E4300 and E6300 are which are best. However the E6600 has seen many 4.0ghz+ overclocks which the E6400 has a tough time getting to, as well as the extra 2mb cache helps in other applications more than just gaming. If you are going on a budget that big get an E6600.

HOWEVER in a true gaming PC the E4300, 6300, or 6400 would probably be the best FPS for your money since the difference of 130 bucks could be put to FAR better use such. Still with a budget like that go with E6600.
