need a good mobo for gaming

i have just starting to plan my new PC and i dont know what mobo to chose.
whats the best mobo for a powerfull gaming system?

these are the components i've chosen such far:
Proccesor: AMD Athlon 64 3700+ 2,2GHz / 1024KB Socket 939 (Box) (90nm) (San Diego)

Memory: Corsair XMS 2048MB (2x1024) PC4000 500MHz TWINX2048-4000PT (3-4-4-8)

Harddrive: Western Digital Raptor 74GB SATA (10000RPM / SATA)

the videocard is going to be PCIe but i dont know yet if i will go with ATI or nVIDIA.
 
Is that ram DDR2? As they are very lose timmings for DDR at that speed. XMS isn't good ram anyway, if you are overclocking, go with OCZ rev. 2's or G Skill.

Raptors are not that good. If you do really feel the need get some good cooling for it, as they run hot.

For the motherboard, go with the Nvidia 4 chipset. There are 2 main contendors right now, the DFI lanparty range (Extremly good at overclocking, but can be a bit hit or miss apparently.) or the ASUS A8N-SLI deluxe (Avoid the SE, I felt really embarrased building a PC for someone else and I had that motherboard - no firewire ports!!)
 
Do you want to SLI? Probably not, id reccomend DFI lanparty ultra-d.
that ram wont work with some mobos, pc3200 is most common.
 
is there any difference in preformance betwen the nForce 4 nForce4 SLI and nForce 4 ultra chipsets?
and is the OCZ better than the XMS?

thats strange as the raptor has a lot of better ms time

I should of used italics for the that.

It isn't that good. It is not worth paying how ever much it is to get slightly better performance, and sacrifise the space.

(This place is really annoying me. I don't know why I bother with it anymore.)
