Default Need future build suggestions ($2000 budget)

hi guys, this is gonna be for my cousin now and he has a good budget.
He has given me his needs and im gonna post it now:

"In terms of needs, it's a work machine, but I'm a software developer and need something high-spec to run several instances of Visual Studio, SQL Server, SQL Server Management Studio, as well as lots of programs on startup for SSH, VPN, etc. A lot of these applications are very resource-intensive."

"This is what he was gonna get so far:
Intel Q6600 quad core CPU ($200)
High-end CPU cooling ($50)
Additional cooling fans, arctic paste, etc ($60)
Antec P182 Black case ($150)
Thermaltake 750w PSU ($200)
ASUS P5E mobo ($220)
FDD with card reader combo ($20)
Any DVD-ROM drive ($25)
Good DVD-RW Drive ($50)
WD Raptor 150GB 10k RPM SATA-150 HDD ($170)
Seagate Barracuda 750GB 7.2K RPM SATA-300 HDD ($250)
GPU- !?!?!?!?!?
4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400)
$130Hauppauge WinTV-PVR-150 PCI Interface ($70)"

what should be corrected and changed, thanks!

Tuniq tower w/mx-2, 520hx, consider a cheaper motherboard, raptors are a complete waste of money. You could probably get 4GB of RAM for less than $130.

like said before the psu is over kill, 620hx would work great, 8800gt, drop the raptor. if he wants something that like u said is future proof u might want to go with a 780i mobo to support 45nm cp's in the future.

U don't have to go 780i for the 45nm support... I know this is crazy but if he has three monitors and has the money you could go (3)8800 GT run 2 in SLI and the third for his other two monitors.

That is if you decide on an SLI board...

Just because you have a high budget doesn't mean you need to spend all of it, especially not if it won't give any benefit.

if he wants is future proof he might want to use 3 way sli in the future and 780i support 25nm so its the most future proof board u can buy.

well he doesnt game and this pc is not meant for gaming.
Ive been thinking of going with a good x38 mobo and maybe 2 3850s??

post some links for x38 mobos...which is the best right now and most reliable?

And remember, crossfire or sli isnt needed...as long has he can run all 3 monitors.
and he really wants to stick with the raptors, i got nothing to convince him not to...

Case - Antec P182 Gun Metal Black
Processor - Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 G0 OEM
Motherboard - ASUS P5E X38
Memory - 2 x 2GB G. Skill DDR2-800 PQs or 2x Crucial Ballistix DDR2-800
Power supply - Corsair 520HX
Hard drives - 2x Seagate Barracuda 7200.11 750GB
Optical drive - Samsung 20X DVD Burner w/LightScribe
Optical drive 2 - ASUS Black DVD-ROM
Card Reader w/ FDD - Rosewill RCR-FD200 All-in-one
Heatsink - Thermalright Ultra-120 Extreme (If he's overclocking) w/Scythe Slipstream 1200rpm 69cfm/24dBA
Keyboard - Logitech G11
Mouse - Logitech G5 w/ the two side buttons
Speakers - Logitech X-230 32 watts RMS 2.1
OS - Windows Pro 64bit OEM
TV Tuner - Hauppauge WinTV-PVR 150 MCE FM 1042 PCI Interface

About graphic cards. It doesn't look like the main purpose of this rig is gaming, so I would suggest two low ends in Crossfire, such as:
2x MSI HD3470 256MB
Grand total w/ this option - $1,789.81, not including shipping.

Or, if he's looking to do a little gaming...A high end 8 series, coupled with a low end gfx card, to accommodate the 3rd monitor:
ZOGIS 8800GT 512MB
w/Sapphire HD3450 256MB
Grand total w/ this option - $1,929.81, not including shipping.

He wouldn't even need those, if he wasn't going to be gaming. Two 3470s or 3450s are fine.
