Need either a new gaming computer or new hard drive.

Why would the HDD be of no use.... You said it crashed, an assumption there would be software. You will need to make a new USB bootable drive to install Windows anyways, so format that drive and see if it still shows issues.

Also, you still listed incompatible parts with the same outdated graphics card. A 2500k is a 7 year old processor and will not fit in a socket 1151 (B250 chipset) motherboard. That motherboard also requires DDR4, you linked DDR3.

You will need at least a 6th or 7th generation Intel processor to fit in that motherboard. A cheap processor that will work with that board would be something like this.

Which uses DDR4

A GTX 1050 is miles ahead of the dated GTX 460.

Those plus the 1TB drive and your linked case/PSU will leave you roughly 100 bucks of budget, which won't cover the cost of Windows or tax (or shipping if you don't have Prime).

You would have to get the lower end Gaming M3 version of that MSI board here.

Take note, that processor will work but it's not exactly that great in terms of gaming.

I am curious, why do you say the graphics card is so outdated? The one I have right now is a GEForce GTX 550 TI 2GB card, so this would be a whole lot better. I can get that one for only $76 as well, so that helps.

I think this question needs to be asked.

What games are you playing by chance?

While getting a 1050 (or whatever the suggestion) would benefit you greatly, curious what your going to use the 550ti to run.
