As for the manufacturers, some manufactuers have a great reputation like XFX and evga that make reliable cards or factory overclocked cards that work well. Other brands like foxxcon, PNY, foxxconn are known for cheaper but unrealiable products.

Before all those brands just made motherboards like msi, gigabyte and asus. I was pretty surprised at first when some other brand than sapphire was making videocards for ati and some other brand than BFG was making video cards for nvdia
So one of the aforementioned motherboards will be good with a Nvidia video card? Now, which brand Nvidia card do you think is a decent one? I did a search for 8800GT and there are different brands, clock speeds...

um pretty much any motherboard will work really.
Newegg.com - ABIT IP35-E LGA 775 Intel P35 ATX Intel Motherboard - Retail
alot of people are recommending this board for its overclocking ability and features. No SLI but if you want SLI speak up.

As for the videocard, the faster ones are factory overclocked. The stock speed is acually 600/1900 i think.

but me i'd recommend this one

:P just cuz its in stock now.

Wow. I didn't know those came in 1gb sizes... Other than that, usually the 8600 series are frowned upon.

This?

Newegg.com - XFX PVT80GTHE4 GeForce 8800GTS Extreme 640MB 320-bit GDDR3 PCI Express x16 HDCP Ready SLI Supported Video Card - Retail

$340 after rebate 640 MB

or...

Newegg.com - XFX PVT80GGHD4 GeForce 8800GTS XXX 320MB 320-bit GDDR3 PCI Express x16 HDCP Ready SLI Supported Video Card - Retail

$270 after rebate 320 MB

Is the extra 320 MB worth spending the extra $70?

yea 8600GTS is nothing to brag about even 1gb. Stick with 8800GT, its just slightly weaker than 8800GTX which is 100 bucks more.

Those 8800GTS are weaker than 8800GT.

I think this is good enough PSU

I saw the PSU you have mentioned but $80 compared to $24... if the $24 one is suitable.

and you also suggest getting a 8800GT instead of a 8800GTS?
