Need advice for building new computer

Im planning to build a new computer, currently im working on a notebook (T5500 Dual2Core 1.66Ghz), but its time to step it up a little.. Im not that experienced when it comes to hardware, so help would be much appreciated.
I work with certain 3D applications, do some compositing and gaming.

I have this is mind,

*Mainboard: MSI MB INTEL LGA775 P6N SLI Platinum (compustar - the star in hard - and software) or
ASUS P5K-E/WIFI-AP AiLifestyle Series (http://www.ciao-shopping.nl/ASUS_P5K...Series__787972)
*Processor: Intel Quad-Core Q6600 2.4Ghz 1066MHz 8MB (compustar - the star in hard - and software)
*GPU: EVGA GeForce 8800GT KO,512MB, GDDR3, PCI Express x16 not sure? (Azerty Hardware)

also need RAM (should i go with 2/4G?), Power Supply, case and quess thats about it, my budget is around 900€, screen excluded..
Ive also heard that for the Q6600 its best to use a P35 board?

psu: corsair 520hx
hdd: seagate 320gb 7200.1 rpm 16 mb cache x2

the case is ur choice so is monitor
