Talking My First Build

Hi everyone this is my first post on tech-forums...

Im starting my first build pretty soon , Im getting ready to order parts for it. I want to use it for moderate gaming, music/picture editting and whatever else i choose to do in the future..

So far these are the parts ive decided on

HP 20X DVD±R DVD Burner with LightScribe Black SATA Model DVD1070i

XION II XON-101 Black Steel ATX Mid Tower Computer Case 450W Power Supply

Western Digital Caviar GP WD7500AACS 750GB 5400 to 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive

OCZ Reaper HPC Edition 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model OCZ2RPR800C44GK

ASUS P5Q SE PLUS LGA 775 Intel P45 ATX Intel Motherboard

Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 Kentsfield 2.4GHz LGA 775 Quad-Core Processor Model BX80562Q6600

.................................................. .................................................. ....

The physical assembly seems straight forward enough . Im a bit worried about the setting up the settings. ive never attempted anything like that before. Any advice on the parts or the build would be greatly appricated.

O BTW Is that a decent mobo for what i want??

Default Re: My First Build

might I suggest an INTEL E8400 - Better for the money than the Q6600.

Are you going to get a video card? If so, then the PSU might not be adequate for it's needs... average watts for a basic build is around 500-550W with 32-36 (or more) AMPS.

Dell 4K S2817Q / Logitech Z-680 / Func MS3 Mouse / Corsair K70
NZXT Source 530 / i7-3770K / Corsair H100 / ASRock Z77 Extreme4 / SoundBlaster Recon3d
Samsung 850 PRO 512GB SSD/Seagate 1TB/2TB/WD 2TB
4x4GB Corsair Vengeance 2133 / PNY GTX 980 ti/ Seasonic M12II 850W

that's amps on the 12v rail btw, go for a 4850 512MB , you can't loose

get higher clocked DDR2 it's only an few bucks more and you'll have more head room - OCZ Platinum 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 1066 (PC2 8500) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory - Desktop Memory

this mobo should do you just fine for the q6600 although I'd suggest the e8400 as said before - GIGABYTE GA-EP45-UD3R LGA 775 Intel P45 ATX Intel Motherboard - Intel Motherboards
