My 8600 GTS..

My eVGA 8600 GTS 256MB gets higher FPS and runs at a higher resoltuion without crashing in Counter-Strike : Source than the original Counter-Strike.

I find that odd. I get 180 FPS at 1400x1050 in CSS, and 60 FPS at 1200x900 in CS.

I wonder why.

did you turn vertical sync off? try adjusting fps_max in the console in cs 1.6, type "fps_max 300" in the console (enabled in advanced keyboard settings, uses key ~)

60 is the fps cap for vertical sync (if thats your refresh rate)

My fps_max is already at 300. I shall check out this vertical sync thing. Maybe it has something to do with Direct X.

go to the nvidia control panel and go to manage 3d settings, make sure it says vertical sync off
