Default Must I use a SATA 6gb cable when using a SATA III SSD?

I just noticed a couple of my newest SATA cables are clearly listed as SATA 6G/B's. Gosh, I used some older SATA cables on my last two builds with Intel 520 series SSD III's Cherryvilles.

Two questions:

Can an SATA cable limit the transfer rates?

Is there really such a thing as SATA II and SATA III rated cables?

Default Re: Must I use a SATA 6gb cable when using a SATA III SSD?

there is no difference in cables (with a poooossible exception of reeeeeally cheap cables having a performance loss.)

i think motherboard makers like to package difference looking cables just to kind of highlight the technology and make you think that there is a bigger difference. i find that it is helpful to have the different looking cables going to the different components to quickly identify the paths on a pc with tightly packed away cable management.
