Motherboard/Processor Question

Hi, I have recently started to piece together a computer from my spare parts, I have everything but the processor. So the motherboard is a MSI K8T800 939 Socket, and I was wondering if the motherboard can utilize the full potential of the AMD FX-55 Processor?

It's a great processor but it's single core.

I would go with a dual core Processor.


Look at the Opterons 165/170/175


Or at the X2's. they are all ridiculously cheap.

Well, I am giving this system to my little brother and it most likely will be used solely for gaming, I figured he doesnt need a dual core processor, but will the motherboard be able to utilize the full potential of the processor

A dual core processor will help out in gaming ALOT.


Games are now being utilized for dual core.

well I wanted to spend roughly 130 on a processor and as you can see it would cost too much for me to upgrade the entire system to encorporate the AM2, but I think the only processor in that range is the X 3800 and my experiences with that perticular processor is not a good one so i thought I would go with the FX 55.

x2 3800+ would be a MUCH better choice for gaming then the FX.


And yes the motherboard can handle the CPU fine.

Hi, I have problems identifying my motherboard. I have a Toshiba Laptop and I'm planning to upgrade.. I dont know if my motherboard supports the latest Merom processors.. All I know is that I have an ATI Radeon Xpress 200M Chipset.. Could someone help me with this?
