Default Mother board processor question

If a motherboard says it supports a Pentium D, do I need to worry about the socket type?

well pentium d's are socket 775, its not like p4's which were on like 3 different sockets. so i would say you're fine, its just like a 5 second check so just do it and give yourself peace of mind

You wouldn't need to worry about socket type. All Pentium Ds are socket LGA775. What you should worry about, is what 775 processors are compatible with the motherboard.
