Most overclockable pc for 1k

I needed to build me a new pc anyway and I could use an extra 500 bucks or more from a stupid friend, I mean who wouldnt?!?!? Im not rich though, I just take advantage of stupid peoples mistakes.
Besides, my old ati; p4 build is definatly showing its age in most games. I cant go higher than 1k according to bet which is what he said. Exact words : "ok, well I bet you couldnt hit 8k in 3dmark05 with a $1,000 machine." I said ok, since I was going to build a pc anyway and knew I could beat him. Just wanted to know what to get to accomplish this task......

@ Apokalipse; But the 3700+ can't dream of getting to 2.9-3.0GHz as often as the Opteron 148.

And Pepsiboy, I understand. As long as you have the stuff that I left out, you should be ok. If you REALLY want to keep it under $1000 then you could go with a cheaper processor.
