For a 7900GS, I would suggest a 19" at 1440 x 900 resolution. Heres one:
Newegg.com - Hanns·G HW-191DPB Black 19" 5ms DVI Widescreen LCD Monitor 300 cd/m2 700:1 Built in Speakers - Retail
or
Newegg.com - SAMSUNG 906BW Black 19" 2 ms (GTG) DVI Widescreen LCD Monitor 300 cd/m2 2000:1 DC - Retail

Oh...if you're going to an 8800GTS 640, a 22" would suite that more.

Newegg.com - CHIMEI CMV 221D-NBC Black 22" 5ms DVI Widescreen LCD Monitor 330 cd/m2 800:1 - Retail

Newegg.com - Hanns·G HW-223DPB Black 22" 5ms HD 1080P supported DVI Widescreen LCD Monitor 300 cd/m2 1000:1 Built in Speakers - Retail

yeah most definitely...except while you have your 7900GS you'll most likely have to turn down the detail a bunch if you want games to run smoothly at its native resolution.

yeah, i used to have a 22" and a 7900gs for a while, and i'll second the fact that it wont run most (if any) new games at native without lag.

only if you play oblivion, just go down to 1280x1024 or 1600x1200, thats the only game you cant play at max...

you're kidding. the 7900GS is a budget card...it's not going to perform well at higher resolutions in LOTS of games.
