Default MOBO.. well sli .. sli 16x?

ok .. im getting a job soon woohoo!! so money will be coming in and i thought that i would lay out what i wanna get with that money for motovation.... i wanna get a new mobo sli.... with 1 gfx card and a sound card bc i will be doing some dj stuff on my setup ... i will also be planning ot buy new turntables new speakers and a synth.... but thats non pc..... ok so whats the difference with sli and sli 16x. .sorry if this has been answered but i havent been on this forum in over 3 months !

sorry bout the double post.. i dont need top of the line gfx card but a card that will play newer games decently

You don't need either if you are just getting one video card, but here's the difference.

With SLI, there are two 16x PCI-E slots, but when you have two video cards running in SLI, they are running as 8x slots.

With SLI 16x, in SLI, both slots are 16x instead of 8x.

I guess this means more bandwidth, but from the benchmarks it doesnt really make a difference.
