So cal
Hey guys, so I am new to these forums, i was checking out certain reliable forums, and this one looked pretty good, so for my first ever question :D...

I am upgrading my custom desktop as follow

1g DDR2 Ram - > 4g DDR2 ram, 2x2
Radeon X1950 pro -> EVGA Nvidia 9800 GTX
Core 2 Duo 1.86 GHz -> Core 2 Duo either 2.7 GHz or 3.0 (still deciding for price reasons)

currently i have a MICRO-STAR INTL MS-7238 Motherboard...I am wondering if for the upgrades i am getting do i need to also upgrade the MoBo, if so what would be a good one for a fairly reasonable price.
Thanks a bunch

seems like that MSI board only supports up to 1066fsb
so if you were thinking about an E8x00 you can forget it :p

only other thing I'd look at is your power supply

Ok so it looks like im gonna be upgrading my mobo to EVGA 123-YW-E175-A1 LGA 775 NVIDIA nForce 750i SLI ATX Intel Motherboard

now my power supply is Antec truepower Trio with an output power of 550 W...please tell me that enough :)

Hm so if i get that processor, i can run all my upgraded hardware on my current MoBo?
meaning im good with my EVGA 512-P3-N871-AR GeForce 9800 GTX(G92) 512MB 256-bit GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Supported Video Card

hmm, much of a price dif? still compatible? psu will still be ok?
god i feel like a nub
oh and whats the diff between the 512MB and 1G on a graphics card...does it really matter if i get the 1g?
