Question mobo and memory compatibility question.

i'm buying this motherboard Newegg.com - EVGA 132-BL-E758-A1 LGA 1366 Intel X58 ATX Intel Motherboard - Intel Motherboards

right now i have 4 gigs of corsair dominator ddr2 pc 8500 @ 1066 MHz memory 2 2gig sticks. will that work w/ this mobo. or do i have to upgrade to 3 sticks of ddr3 triple channel memory, or can i buy one more stick of the ram i have now.

do these mobo's support dual channel.

thanks.

Sorry pal. You have DDR2. That mobo requires DDR3. You'll need to purchase DDR3 memory.

Peep this,
Newegg.com - Computer Hardware,Memory,Desktop Memory,240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM,

All will work. That motherboard supports up to DDR3-1600

take a peek at this ram to pair with your i7.
Newegg.com - OCZ Gold 6GB (3 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Triple Channel Kit Desktop Memory - Desktop Memory

6gb or 3x2gb is the way to go with ddr3

You could get away with 2 dimms, but I would recommend going triple channel for the performance boost, if your on a tight budget, shop around for some deals, I remember seeing some triple channel for under $75 shipped somewhere.

If you are not going to run triple channel you might as well go for a 775 or amd build and run ddr2.
