Mobo decisions.

ok well for xmas i am looking to get a new mobo and CPU. well the mobo i aim to get should be ddr3 compatible. because my dad has 2x2gb chips of ocz ram he can give me. and i'm looking at these 2 mobo's

they are pretty much similar. is there a better ddr3 mobo in the same price range?

shouldn't you be waiting for tri-channel boards?

i thought that was only avilable on lga 1366 boards.

As far as I know nehalem is the only one getting triple channel.

Why not a Biostar P45?

He has DDR3 memory and all of the Biostars only support DDR2.

yes and that ddr3 memory wont work on my dad's 790i ultra. i tryed to tell him not to get it. a 780i would have been nice, but nooo. so i'm thinking the gigabyte will serve me better down the road.

The gigabyte is nice. They have always had solid boards, they just don't get recommended as much as they used to because Biostar pulled of such an upset with the i45.

i've heard some things about asus's boards lately they have been going down hill. all excecpt for the uber expensive highend one's.

What does firewire do, because the Biostar I45 doesn't have it.
