Mobo, cpu + graphics upgrade

I'm thinking of upgrading my setup and handing off my current to my father, who desperately needs a computer lol. Any good combo deals out there? I'll be surfing newegg for deals but I'm kinda lost in new tech

My current set up, what should i get rid of/keep?
antec three hundred case with plenty of fans.
Foxconn 925xe mobo
4gb 4x1gb ddr2 533
sapphire x800xl 512mb
400w corsair

I'm looking to spend prolly under 200$USD for a mobo and cpu. Lower the better but with options to upgrade. Something to get me back up to speed, but not over kill lol Prolly looking to spend 50-100$ graphics card. hopefully my current psu is good for upgrade.

$107 for a 4850?
He could spend $145 and get a 5770.
If I were him, I'd go 5770 as there's no question it outperforms the 4850, the only question remaining is the performance boost worth $38?
Probably not in most cases, but the 5770 has similar power consumption to a 4850, and it runs a LOT cooler than a 4850.

Also, Muffin Man, I like the combos you suggested.
