Default Which Mobo?

What is the difference between these 2 motherboards, other than the processors they support.

The Intel Desktop Board D945PSN
and the Intel Desktop Board D975XBX

Also when I look in Tiger Direct they sometimes add LKR after a motherboard or BOX before the motherboard number, what does that mean?
Im just looking for the best performance, thanks for any help.
